Selection principles of high voltage fuses

To ensure fuses function properly and guarantee the safe operation of all vehicle electrical components, selecting the appropriate type and specifications is crucial. Fuse selection involves the following factors: The current characteristics and voltage characteristics applied to the fuse, the ambient temperature, installation size limitations, and the application circuit. When the applied voltage and installation size are constant, fuse selection primarily considers three factors: current characteristics, ambient temperature, and the application circuit. From the perspective of the application circuit, vehicle wiring can be divided into high-voltage, high-current protection zones and medium- and low-voltage, low-current protection zones based on current strength.

 

Generally, an electric vehicle uses 4-5 high-voltage fuses, mainly for high-voltage, high-current equipment such as the motor controller, air conditioning circuit, DC/DC converter, and battery pack heater. An electric vehicle uses a larger number of medium- and low-voltage fuses, primarily for the central control box in the vehicle's wiring, including electrical equipment such as lighting circuits, audio circuits, and windshield wiper circuits. For the medium- and low-voltage, low-current protection zones, fuses can be selected according to the specifications for traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.
